  2.                         Explanation of the NCQ rating system
  3.  
  4.         The NCQ system of rating has been used here at Naughty Bits
  5.         for quite some time.  As with ALL rating systems, it is very
  6.         subjective!  The NCQ rating is composed of one optional character
  7.         followed by a 3 number code.  The NCQ file rating may be found
  8.         as part of the file description when listing the file areas.  If
  9.         the NCQ is not listed, then that file is assumed to have a
  10.         rating of 333.  Now onto the meaning of the code.

  12.         The first character of the NCQ rating is a image type descriptor.
  13.             M   = Monochrome image (dithered)
  14.             C   = CGA type image
  15.             E   = EGA type image
  16.             S   = SVGA image!
  17.         (blank) = Regular VGA
  18.  
  19.         The first number of the code represents the Nasty (N) value of 
  20.         the GIF/GL file.  This number ranges from 1 (really dull!) to 5 (HOT!!).

  22.         The second number represents the  composition (C) of the image(s).
  23.         This number also ranges from 1 to 5.
  24.         If a image were too small, or so close up as to be of little value,
  25.         the C value would be small.  If the image(s) were composed to be
  26.         pleasing to look at, the number would be higher.

  28.         The third number represents the Quality (Q) of the image(s).
  29.         Quality numbers also range from 1 to 5.  Blur, grain and poor dithering
  30.         results in a lower value.

  32.         Here are a few examples of how the NCQ is implemented:

  34.         NCQ = 145       This is a VGA type file (256 colors / 64 shades BW)
  35.                         The Composition of the image is very good (4).
  36.                         The image Quality is EXCELLENT (5).
  37.                         However the Nasty factor is quite LOW (1).
  38.                         (Could be a nice image of your sister!)

  40.         NCQ = S433      This is a SVGA type file (256 colors / 64 shades BW)
  41.                         Really NASTY!!! (4)
  42.                         The Quality and Composition is average!
  43.  
  44.         NCQ = E111      This file is a EGA (up to 16 colors) image(s).
  45.                         This file is a DUD!! Not Nasty, Poorly Composed,
  46.                         Very poor quality!  This file will make a VERY BRIEF
  47.                         appearance on Naughty Bits!  If you want it to add
  48.                         to your collection, better get it fast!  Cause it
  49.                         won't be there long!
